Katherine got her start as a street performer in the Paris
subway at the end of a college semester in France,
playing guitar and singing Bob Dylan songs. Since then,
she has played a variety of instruments in a plenitude of
locations, including Boston and Cambridge MA, Burlington
VT, Philadelphia PA, and Portland ME, where these photos
were taken.  Along with eight other folk and classical
musicians, she was featured on the 1989 album
Music in
the Air: Boston Street Musicians Vol.1
, available from
producer Steve Friedman of
Melville Park Studio.

These days,  she plays hammered dulcimer in Portland's
Old Port during the Christmas season.   Fortunately, it's
possible to play the dulcimer with gloves on!  Add
insulated coveralls, thick boots, and a hunters' insulated
seat cushion, and she's good to go...
